The CERN Courier has published an article "Time to Adapt for Big Data" describing software and computing challenges for the HL-LHC and HEP in the 2020s, the Community White Paper document "A Roadmap for HEP Software and Computing R&D for the 2020s" and the process that produced this R&D roadmap.
